Allison Williams is set to play the title character in NBC’s Peter Pan Live this December.
Williams said: “I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true … It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”
The casting decision took Twitter by surprise as most people just couldn’t picture Marnie, Williams’ character on the HBO show Girls, singing and dancing and flying around the stage.
Also, Allison Williams is playing Peter Pan and that is so weird I don’t even know how to joke about it.

The Peter Pan cast already boasts Christopher Walken as Captain Hook and some people are hoping that Brian Williams, Allison’s father, will make a cameo during the NBC production.
NBC casts Allison Williams as Peter Pan. Maybe they can find a guest role for Brian?

NBC chief Robert Greenblatt said: “We couldn’t be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan. She’s a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls—where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent—and we think she will bring the perfect blend of ‘boyish’ vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken’s powerful Captain Hook.”
