Allison Williams gave Peter Pan fans a treat today when she posted a photo of herself in the iconic green costume on Instagram.
Williams, who will be playing the famous character in a live musical on NBC, said that she was so excited to play the character that she almost cut her hair off in preparation for the role. Thankfully, someone at NBC told her that it wasn’t necessary and that she could just wear a wig.
Williams writes: “The transformation begins! My first shoot as Pan. Fun fact: I was all ready to cut my hair, then was told by the folks who actually know what they’re doing that a wig works better for everybody. So, December 4th, here we come. #wiglife #peterpanlive #nbc”
This is the first look at Allison Williams as Peter Pan but it isn’t the first behind-the-scenes look at the production. The star of HBO’s Girls posted a video earlier this year of her learning how to fly.
Williams writes: “First day of flying lessons for Pan. Thinking about and missing a hero of mine who once did this and left big shoes to fill.”
Some people have criticized Williams, saying that she was miscast as Peter Pan, but the young actor is hoping to change some minds on December 4.
Williams responded to one of her critics on Instagram, writing: “All I can say is that I’ve been working my butt off (14 hours today – whew), and I sincerely hope I can turn your expectations around come December. I promise to take good care of the role. I love Peter Pan so much that I wouldn’t have gone out for it if I didn’t think I could do it. Promise.”
