A great documentary short film called When The Zombies Come on YouTube has earned a pretty negative response from home improvement giant ACE Hardware.
The 10-minute documentary is about a rural ACE Hardware employee who came up with the perfect plan for surviving the zombie apocalypse. It is earning all the right attention, having nabbed the top prize at DragonCon, and seems to have gotten a warm response at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, reports BuzzFeed.
The film is available on YouTube, and may go viral after ACE Hardware’s official response was posted in the comments section about an hour after the film was posted:
It’s painfully apparent that ACE doesn’t get it. Despite recent violent headlines, the zombie apocalypse is still something of a cultural obsession. Embracing the film probably would have been a smarter move.
In any case, the comment has since apparently been removed. We just hope that the employees of this rural ACE weren’t “removed” as well over such a harmless and funny documentary.
We’ve reached out to both ACE Hardware and Jon Hurst, the director of the short for follow-up. We’ll let you know if they get back to us (and if Mr. Hurst is reading this, feel free to send me a tweet or Facebook message).
