As the new year gets underway, so does a crop of new and returning shows that will have viewers glued to their sets. However, it’s sometimes difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff with so many different series spread across a host of different networks and streaming services.

Here are five season premieres set for this month that you simply can’t miss; circle them in your TV guide, make a note in your diary, set up your TiVo — just make sure you seem them.

Parks & Recreation

As its stars become more and more in vogue in Hollywood, Parks and Recreation returns for its final season on January 13. Two episodes are being shown each week, meaning that this last run will go by all the quicker — make sure you’re there to see what might be our last glimpse into the lives of Leslie Knope and co.

Babylon

The latest British import to hit American screens is this six-part black comedy starring James Nesbitt (The Hobbit) and co-created by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting). Set in the fast-paced world of the London Metropolitan Police Service, this show toes the line between comedy and drama quite expertly.

Archer

The irreverent adventures of the world’s most self-absorbed secret agent return on January 8, with Archer returning to the life of a spy after spending much of Season 5 working a vice beat. Expect to see more car chases, international intrigue and — perhaps most importantly — some of the funniest, bawdiest humor on television.

Empire

Fox’s new hip hope family soap debuts on January 7, and with a compelling central performance from Terrence Howard and music from Timbaland, it’s looking like it might be one of the first big hits of 2015. Howard plays music mogul Lucious Lyon, who is faced with the task of balancing his personal life with his business when an illness shakes him to his foundations.

Girls

Until Game of Thrones rolls around later in the year, Girls looks like the jewel in the crown of HBO’s 2015 schedule when it returns on January 11. The fourth season will comprise of ten episodes, following up on the events of last year’s season finale — and it seems that HBO like what they’ve seen so far, as a fifth season has already been ordered by the network.
