2013 Academy Awards

What is everyone talking about on social media heading into the 2013 Academy Awards? Our pals at Networked Insights, a leading provider of social media analytics technology, analyzed online activity to see who’s winning the Oscar race according to you.

Using their technology platform SocialSense, Networked Insights looked up conversations that took place online just after the nominee announcement on Thursday, January 10 and ending on February 14.

Their results weren’t much of a surprise to us around the Social News Daily water cooler. The Oscars are generating a lot of heated debate online heading into the awards ceremony on February 24. Depending on what audience you look at, results are completely split in some categories.

Here are some interesting snippets:

  • Only 16 percent of Argo‘s online conversation regards Ben Affleck’s Best Director snub.
  • Only 5 percent of Zero Dark Thirty’s conversation is about the film’s controversial torture scenes.
  • Oscar host Seth MacFarlane is the subject of more than 37,100 online conversations, but only 14 percent love that he’s hosting.
