Social gaming giant Zynga on Wednesday announced the release of Empires Allies a new Facebook game that let’s you fight your friends.
The game is the first for the company to take on a robust social strategy feel with fighting capabilities that also thrives upon social engagement. It’s also the first time that the company has created a “story-driven” social gaming application.
The game requires users to build an army and protect their empire, while also forming alliances, securing energy sources and even invading other players islands.
Speaking to PCWorld the games executive producer Amer Ajami said:
Empires Allies is strategy combat gone social — think CityVille meets Risk […] We’re focused on bringing our players a new form of entertainment and a strategy game is definitely a new playground for us. Play is in everyone’s DNA, and this game lets you have fun and get creative by choosing your own destiny, building a nation and eventually, conquering the world.
Empires Allies comes ahead of what is expected to be a $10 billion IPO (initial public offering) for Zynga.
Here’s a trailer for the new social war game:
The voice over made me crack up but the graphics look decent for a socially enabled game and the ability to form allies could be a very cool new feature.
