YouTube is planning its first ever music awards show on November 3 in New York City, and will be streamed live for all to see.
Aptly titled “The YouTube Music Awards,” Spike Jonze is onboard as creative director, and actor Jason Schwartzman is set to host the awards show.
Recognizing some of the greatest musical talent to grace the video site, popular acts include Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga, Eminem and violin sensation Lindsay Stirling.
YouTube plans on announcing a full list of performers in the coming weeks, and some will be pre-recorded so users around the world will not miss out due to time differences.
From VP of Marketing Danielle Tiedt:
“From catalyzing careers and pop culture phenomena to propelling a song’s rise to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, our global community’s influence is felt across the music industry. We’re thrilled to celebrate our fans and the music they love with a whole new kind of awards show – the first-ever YouTube Music Awards – judged by you.”
On October 17, YouTube will reveal nominations across multiple categories, and users can start voting on their favorite videos by liking or sharing them.
However, to keep with the element of surprise, you will not be able to see which video is in the lead.
Will you be tuning in live to The YouTube Music Awards?
