Insanely stupid $1.2 million funded app Yo has been hacked.
The mobile app available on iPhone and Android, as we reported yesterday, provides the amazing utility of providing users the ability to say “Yo” to other users….and nothing more.
According to a report that first appeared on TechCrunch, the app has been hacked by a student who claims to be able to hijack users phone numbers.
“We can get any Yo user’s phone number (I actually texted the founder, and he called me back). We can spoof Yo’s from any users, and we can spam any user with as many Yo. We could also send any Yo user a push notification with any text we want (though we decided not to do that).”
There is also other reports that instead of “Yo” some users are being Rick-Rolled instead; ie: they’re receiving copies of Rick Astley’s “Never Going To Give You Up” instead of the key feature of the application: “Yo.”
The report at TechCrunch has confirmation from the “Yo” people that there is a security issue with the app.
We would advise: Yo don’t install Yo or use Yo for the Yo time being.
Yo might be putting Yo mobile in danger.
