Woman ‘Catfishes’ Niece, Discovers Murder Plot

A Woman stumbled onto a plot by her niece to murder her and the rest of the girl’s family, including the dog.

19-year-old Marissa Williams of Fosters, Alabama has been arrested and is awaiting trial for soliciting murder after she allegedly asked a fictional boy to kill her aunt, her aunt’s fiance, her cousin and the family dog before “kidnapping” her.

The problem was that the fictional stranger that Williams also allegedly offered to have sex with for $50, was actually her aunt. Her aunt had created the account to keep tabs on Williams after Williams defriended her on Facebook.

The aunt created a fictional person on Facebook named Tre “Topdog” Ellis and struck up a chat conversation with Williams. Pretending to be someone else online is commonly known as “catfishing.” The practice generally involves romantically involved individuals, not an aunt trying to check up on her troubled niece.

Williams was convinced that Tre Ellis was a real person, and allegedly invited him over to get drunk with her. According to the aunt, inviting strangers she met online is what initially led to their falling out. Williams then allegedly asked the fictional Ellis to come “kidnap” her and to kill her aunt if she tried to stop him.

That plan eventually led to a more elaborate one, where Ellis was to kill everyone in the house while Williams packed her things into his car. Once the aunt, while posing as Ellis, discovered the plot, she phoned police who took Williams in.

Williams is being held at the county jail under $30,000 bond while she awaits trial.

I would say that there is a lesson to be learned here, but I don’t think “don’t ask strangers on Facebook to kill your family” is one people need to be told.
