“What Would I Say?” is an app that turns Facebook users into bots by generating a status for you based on past updates. In technical terms, the app accesses your history and teaches it to a Markov Bot, which spits out a status based on a mixture model of bigram and unigram probabilities taken from the history.
To put it bluntly, WWIS is the lazy Facebook user’s way of creating a likely hilarious status … or sometimes one that makes no sense at all. The creators are quick to assure on the website that they don’t store any personal information any where and “don’t even have a database!” So no worries, Facebook users, your crazy status updates will stay where they belong.
Without further ado, here are some of the status updates for MelissaBot:
(This is actually something I said!)
(This is not something I said.)
(Obviously, this is one of the “makes no sense” options.)
(No, MelissaBot. Just … no.)
(Finally, one that makes sense again!)
So, I’m sure you’re wondering how to get one of these lovely status updates for yourself! Go to the “What Would I Say?” app website, and log in to Facebook using the button in the upper right-hand corner. Then, just hit generate status and prepare to laugh (or be confused).
