Video Prediction App ‘PAUL’ Figures Out What Videos You Want To View

PAUL Predicts Video Preferences

PAUL wants to help you figure out what videos to watch. No PAUL isn’t the name of some guy sitting behind a desk, it’s a new app that recommends videos to users.

PAUL uses a predictive cache/download algorithm that learns from a users viewing habits and ultimately figures out what videos to save for viewing.

Currently PAUL uses Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, CNN and ESPN ScoreCenter videos for recommendation purposes, although the company plans to expand to other services.

When connected to WiFi PAUL downloads videos it believes users would like to watch at a later time, thus allowing for offline viewing.

The company chose the name PAUL in honor of the Octopus who correctly predicted the outcome of Germany’s 7 matches in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

For users worried about a data hungry app PAUL only “wakes up” periodically” to download content over WiFi. The program also includes a battery check to avoid downloading content if a users phone is drained.

PAUL also connects with Last.fm to display preloaded playlists from users’ favorite stations.

You can download PAUL for free from the Google Play store.
