Twitter Names First CTO Since 2011, Adam Messinger Fills Vacant Position

Adam Messinger

Twitter on Wednesday announced that it has filled the vacant CTO position which was left void after Greg Pass left the company in 2011. Heading up Twitter’s technical operations will be Adam Messinger.

Messinger has spent more than a year as Twitter’s VP of application engineering.

The role of CTO is often neglected by tech company’s since all of their developers are technically able to handle their own roles. Google and Facebook still do not have a single individual in a permanent CTO role.

Twitter on the other hand needed to actively fill all of the roles on its board of directions as the social micro-blogging service moves ever closer to its initial public offering (IPO).

The move to promote Adam Messinger to the role of Twitter CTO will show investors that the platform is attempting to unify its various technical divisions under a solidly focused leader.

Adam Messinger brings years of experience and a rockin’ beard to the Twitter team.

Do you think Twitter needed to hire a permanent CTO?
