The team at Twitter is attempting to predict which tweets will go viral in real-time. The company is testing new technologies on the account @magicrecs and @eventparrot.
The @Magicstats Twitter account offers a simple bio:
I favorite the best tweets I see in real-time
Magicstats is a protected account but some information is known. When a user tweets something that Twitter believes will go viral the account tweets the message out after a few short minutes of creation.
The only two revealed tweets that were favorited by @Magicstats managed to both receive over 100 retweets within a few short hours.
Twitter has not confirmed that the closed account is part of the social micro-blogging services experiments, however, it does match other previous experimental pages set up by the social network.
The social network has been working endlessly to track top tweets and by predicting what will go viral the network could allow business customers to become pro-active at a faster rate.
Twitter has not yet commented on the viral tweet predictor account.
We have requested access to the account and our follow request is awaiting approval.
