Topsy, a social search and analytics startup specializing in Twitter, has now launched the ability to search for tweets dating back to March 2006.
According to SVP of product and marketing Jamie De Guerre, companies will be able to dive deeper into conversations, helping to provide better context.
Before, Topsy only archived tweets dating back to 2010, and now contains around 425 billion, including photos and links.
To make sense of all the data, the startup utilizes a Google-like algorithm to effectively rank content, and deliver results as quickly as possible.
The service is freely available for anyone to use, but for far more insight, and “exact statistics up to the second or years back,” it can get pricey.
Geared more towards medium to large-sized businesses, pro subscriptions come with a 14-day free trial, and start at $12,000 per year.
Currently, Topsy has such paid clients as the NFL, CBS, AOL, and GEICO.
