Sylvester Stallone Dead? Hoax Circulates On Twitter

Sylvester Stallone is not dead.

A rumor started circulating this morning that Sly was killed in a snowboard accident. It’s the same cut and paste death that has claimed several other celebrities over the last few years.

Here’s a passage from the hoax story: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (June 11, 2014), our beloved actor Sylvester Stallone passed away. Sylvester Stallone was born on July 6, 1946 in New York. He will be missed but not forgotten.” The hoax was most likely created by Media Fetcher or another death hoax generator website. These work kind of like a devious version of Mad Libs. People enter a name, pick a scenario, and then the website creates a fake news story.

In this case, Sly was snowboarding in Switzerland when he lost control and crashed into a tree.

Sly hasn’t responded to the Death Hoax and his representative reportedly said: “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”
