Susan Wojcicki is moving from her role as SVP of ads and commerce at Google to take on the role of YouTube CEO.
Wojcicki is replacing Salar Kamangar, who will move into a new, yet-to-be-disclosed role with Google.
The company’s new CEO is no stranger to YouTube, the social video platform operated out of her garage during the early days. Wojcicki rented out her garage to Larry Page and Sergey Brin for $1,700 a month.
Susan was employee number 16 at Youtube and quickly rose through the ranks as an important part of their advertising team.
Wojcicki will focus much of her efforts on reaching out to content creators on the network. While YouTube revenues increased by 51 percent in 2013, there are now more than one million channels on the network. The saturation of content providers has created a weakened market for money earnings on the social video platform.
Wojcicki previously led Google’s $43.7 billion dollar ad business.
