Study Shows That Instagram Photos With Faces Get 38% More Likes

A new study has been conducted at Georgia Tech that shows that people are more attracted to pictures that feature a face. In fact, the survey claims that of the one million randomly-selected photos on Instagram, those that had a face were 38% more likely to get likes and 32% more likely to get comments.

Researcher Saeideh Bakhshi of Georgia Tech said:

“We are social animals and want to see other people-it’s comforting to us and makes us safe. This is engrained in us at a very early age, when babies are looking for the support of their parents.”

It was also stated that surprisingly, the number of faces in the photo, gender, or age does not influence engagement levels. Therefore, it doesn’t matter whether there’s five thousand men or five women in the picture.

It was also proven that those who post pictures too frequently, see a decrease in the number of uploads, likes, and comments that they could get.
