Music provider Spotify has acquired music discovery service The Echo Nest. The move will allow Spotify to offer better music discovery service for its millions of customers.
The Echo Nest was founded nine years ago and was already responsible for powering Spotify’s radio service.
Speaking about the acquisition Spotify CEO Daniel Ek says the deal will help create “the best music intelligence platform on the planet.”
In a press release Spotify writes:
The addition of The Echo Nest to Spotify will also strengthen Spotify’s ability to help brands and partners build amazing music experiences for their audiences.
