In 1990 an unknown group of programmers began indexing the web into search results and directories in an effort known as Yahoo!. Fast forward 23 years later and more than one billion people use Facebook, hundreds of millions micro-blog on Twitter and almost as many post juvenile messages and porn on Tumblr.
The social web has come a long way over the year and with advances in social company’s have found new and exciting ways to offer socially relevant search results. Today Bing.com includes recommendations from friends alongside links, while Google+ adds relevance to Google.com searches.
With Facebook recently fully launching its social graph search for all users the team at Yext took at look at how far the social web has truly come from 1990 through the present day.
