Dallas Stars forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench during Monday’s matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The game was postponed while Peverley was taken to the hospital. He was conscious at the time.
Peverley had previously missed training camp because of an irregular heartbeat. He had a procedure to fix it and hopefully this latest incident is not a major problem.
After he was taken to the hospital the Stars updated Peverley’s status on Twitter:
“We treated [peverley] for a cardiac event successfully.” -Dr. Gil Salazar

Fellow athletes sent Rich Peverley their thoughts and prayers on the social media tool as well:

Peverley is sure to miss time after collapsing six minutes into the game and it’s heartwarming to see so many athletes reaching out. It truly is a brotherhood they play in.
When Rich Peverley returns to the ice it will be a welcome sight. He has overcome a lot in the last few months to maintain his career and it would be a shame to see him lose it now.
