Pinterest has launched a new version of its mobile website, a design the company says is a “complete rewrite and redesign” of its mobile web platform. The new design integrates features from the company’s native mobile applications, such as ‘more useful pins’ and ‘related pins.’
By redesigning and recoding the mobile website, Pinterest is able to provide more fluid experience for users across all of their chose platforms of choice. Users on tablets, smartphones, desktop devices, and other gadgets will now feel as if they are sharing a familiar ecosystem at all times.
Pinterest says that more than 75% of its usage now arrives by way of mobile applications. The social platform has not said how iOS, Android, and other platforms share in that mobile usage success.
If you’ve been keeping track, mobile has increased from 50% of the networks usage in 2013 to two-thirds of all usage at this time.
According to Pinterest the new design offers a a “cleaner, more modular code” that makes future development easier. The new design also makes sharing code between the mobile and desktop websites much easier.
A modular mobile website is important for the company because of international expansion in markets where feature phones are still dominate over smartphones and tablets.
With the new design Pinterest says users can now more easily sign-up for Pinterest service and pin to boards just as they do on the desktop and mobile versions of the social media company’s technology.
Officials at the company promise more changes in the near future. The company has not revealed what its roadmap includes.
