Peter O’Toole died on Saturday at the age of 81, according to his agent, Steve Kenis. The actor was best known for the instant stardom he received for playing Lawrence of Arabia.
O’Toole began his acting career in Hamlet in 1955 at the Bristol Old Vic and received his first Oscar nomination for Lawrence of Arabia in 1962. During his career, he received a record eight nominations, the most for an actor without winning, though he did accept an honorary Oscar in 2003, notes The Associated Press.
Fans of the charismatic actor took to Twitter on Sunday after his death was announced, remembering his movies and his personality.
