Less than 24 hours before her death, Peaches Geldof was flipping through some old photos of herself as a child.
The 25-year-old writer was found dead today at a residence in England. Her father, musician Bob Geldof, released a statement saying:
“Peaches has died. We are beyond pain … She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?”
Police have not determined a cause of death yet. According to Fox News, officers in Kent are currently treating the tragic incident as an “unexplained and tragic death.” Rumors have already started circulating that the 25-year-old died of a drug overdose. The rumors are mainly fueled by the fact that Geldof’s mother, Paula Yates, died of an overdose when she was 41.
Peaches Geldof shared a photo of herself and her mother shortly before her sudden death.
Geldof admitted to experimenting with drugs in the past but she said that her mother’s death always kept her from going over the edge. The TV presenter told Elle in 2012:
“I remember the day my mother died, and it’s still hard to talk about it. I just blocked it out… I did experiment with drugs, I did get drunk and go to parties, but I was never that wild …. I could have been, I could have let myself spiral but all the time I remembered what happened to my mum.”
In the days before her death, the 25-year-old also shared several photos and videos of her children. In one video, Geldof plays peek-a-book with her son as he takes a bath.
Thomas Cohen, Geldof’s husband, said in a statement: “My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra, and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts every day. We shall love her forever.”
