‘Orange Is The New Black’ Cancelled? Netflix Responds To Hoax

Orange is the New Black is getting cancelled? Despite grabbing a few handfuls of Emmy nominations this week several people believed that the hit Netflix show was getting axed.

A rumor started this weekend that Netflix was cancelling OITNB. The rumor started on the website Empire News, which has made a name for itself with death hoaxes and fake entertainment news.

The story read: ‘Netflix pulls plug on ‘Orange is the New Black;’ The reason why may shock you.”

The site then “quoted” Netflix CEO Reed Hastings saying: “We regret to inform Netflix members that ‘Orange is the New Black’ has been permanently cancelled … Also, starting September 1st, 2014, past episodes will no longer be available for streaming on Netflix.”

Needless to say, Twitter freaked out.

Thankfully, a few members of the cast, as well as Netflix, were quick to respond to the chaos.

Both seasons of Orange Is The New Black are available on Netflix. The cast and crew are currently working on the third season.
