Obama’s Credit Card Gets Declined

Is this an embarrassing moment? A political snafu? Or a sign that President Obama has run our country into financial ruin? Well, it depends on what side of the aisle you fall on. The fact of the matter is that the Obama’s credit card got declined at a restaurant in New York.

While talking at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau about updating security for credit cards, the president told a story about how his card was declined at a New York City cafe while he was with the First Lady Michelle Obama.

The president said that he was surprised to learn that his card was declined and tried to convince the waiter that he really has been paying his bills.

The President said: “It turned out I guess I don’t use it enough, so they thought there was some fraud going on. Fortunately, Michelle had hers … I was trying to explain to the waitress, ‘No really, I think that I’ve been paying my bills.’ So even I’m affected by this.”

MSN reports that in addition to telling the press about the time his credit card was declined, the President also announced several measures that will help stop credit card fraud and other forms of identity theft.
