The schedule for next season hasn’t been announced yet but we did just get one big piece of information. The Chicago Blackhawks will play the Washington Capitals at the 2015 NHL Winter Classic.
The exact location hasn’t been disclosed yet but the game will be played in Washington D.C. on January 1.
The Blackhawks and the Capitals have both played in the NHL Winter Classic before. The Hawks hosted the game at Wrigley Field in 2009 and the Capitals played at Heinz Field in 2011.
You have more than six teams now, NHL. Pick some new blood for the Winter Classic.

Capitals hosting Blackhawks in the 2015 Winter Classic. Because in the outdoor NHL, there are only like, 8 teams.

New teams in the Winter Classic would be fun. At least one new team

Some hockey fans are disappointed that the NHL chose to “reuse” teams for this year’s Winter Classic but you can’t really blame the league for trying to guarantee ratings. The Blackhawks have a huge local market and superstar Patrick Kane. The Capitals will also bring in viewers thanks to Alex Ovechkin.
Are you excited for the NHL Winter Classic? The full schedule will be announced later this weekend.
