The New York Knicks have taken their NBA playoffs play to Instagram. The team has launched a micro-site where it collects fan photos from Madison Square Garden and beyond.
The teams website can be found at Knickstagram.com where photos are aggregated from the hashtags #Knicks and #KnicksTape. The photos are displayed on a digital map that lets fans discover photos and find out where Knicks fans are located.
During games the Madison Square Garden videoboards show #KnicksTape tagged photo.
The mini-site went live as the Knicks took on the Boston Celtics at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Instagram has continued to increase in popularity and sport’s teams have been among the first major organizations to really capitalize on the social photo sharing network. Last year the New York Rangers and Delta Airlines used Instagram to promote the NHL playoffs and Delta flights.
Do you think the New York Knicks are on to something with its use of Knickstagram.com?
