New U.S. Soccer Uniform Mocked On Social Media

U.S. Soccer unveiled new away uniforms for the 2014 FIFA World Cup on social media this morning. There’s a superhero look to the new kit that Nike hopes inspires our side to a run at World Cup glory.

The U.S will need to play like superheroes this June if they hope to compete with the likes of Ghana, Germany and Portugal.

Social media users, as is their custom, were quick to make fun of the new kit, comparing it to a Captain America uniform among other things.

Some said the new U.S. uniforms bear strong resemble to the duds favored by Les Bleus.

The knee jerk reaction to most uniform changes is instant hatred.

Nike didn’t stray much from a simple red, white and blue approach, although their effort was labeled an unmitigated failure by this Twitter user:

No Beth and Jim, these jerseys are no April fools joke! This hideous design will be sported by our boys kicking the ball around in Rio this June.

What do you think? Are they really that bad? Support for the new U.S. soccer uniform was scattered on Twitter.
