If you thought the comic book craze was over, think again. Marvel has just announced the nine films that will be part of “Phase 3” of its movie industry takeover.
The studio held a special event today at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood to talk about Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The nine new films will revisit franchises like The Avengers and Captain America, but will also include new characters like Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange.
Let’s start with the established properties.
Marvel will be heading back to the Avengers for a two-part finale. Avengers: Infinity War will be broken into two films. The first part will hit theaters in 2018 while the second will hit theaters a year later in 2019.
But Marvel has plenty of things planned before the Avengers finale. In 2016 we’ll see more of Captain America in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. In 2017 we’ll see a sequel to Guardians Of The Galaxy and a new Thor movie. We’ll also be introduced to the Black Panther that year.

Chadwich Boseman, who will play Black Panther, said: “I’m blessed to be a part of this Marvel universe, and I’m looking forward to making magic happen.”

In 2018, we’ll meet Captain Marvel, the female counterpart to Captain America, and The Inhumans. Marvel has also announced a Doctor Strange movie but they did not confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch had landed the part. Marvel Chief Kevin Feige said: “If it were confirmed, we would have introduced him today.” OK, let’s recap. Here’s a look at Marvel’s Twitter feed today.
