Mark Zuckerberg Wins “CEO Of The Year” At Crunchies

Mark Zuckerberg CEO of the Year

Mark Zuckerberg was named CEO of the Year by the team at Tech Crunch. Zuckerberg who founded Facebook in his college dorm had a turbulent year after Facebook launched its $104 billion IPO only to watch stocks plummet. However, following a poor debut Facebook unveiled new advertising platforms for desktop and mobile applications that helped stabilize the company’s stock.

Zuckerberg received the top CEO award during Tech Crunch’s 6th annual Crunchies.

The award was presented at Davies Symphony Hall by TC founder Michael Arrington and AOL CEO Tim Armstrong.

The Crunchies were attended by 2,500 people and were watched by thousands online.

Runner up to Mark Zuckerberg was Google CEO and Co-Founder Larry Page. Other names on the list included Dick Costolo of Twitter, Phil Libin on Evernote and Marissa Mayer of Yahoo.

Nearly all of the nominees named had one thing in common, they took their company’s dated mobile and web platforms and converted them into beautifully looking systems that have attracted new user bases.

Zuckerberg was celebrated for his work to connect the world and for creating the Facebook social graph, the platform that connected many services on mobile devices.

While Facebook has had its fair share of setbacks, it has also led the way towards new technologies by never shying away from trying out new ideas that users either love or hate.

Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook juggernaut still face a tough road ahead but the company’s unwillingness to stop innovating could be the very engine it needs to drive further away from its competition.

Do you think Mark Zuckerberg deserved the top CEO award at the 6th annual Crunchies?
