Margot Robbie To Play Harley Quinn In ‘Suicide Squad’ [Report]

Director David Ayer hasn’t made an official announcement yet but multiple sources are reporting that Margot Robbie will be playing Harley Quinn in the new movie Suicide Squad. 

Collider broke the news this morning citing unnamed sources. The website also reports that Will Smith and Tom Hardy are being considered for the Suicide Squad cast. Jared Leto is reportedly in talks to play the Joker.

If you aren’t familiar with Harley Quinn, she’s basically the Joker’s psychotic girlfriend. She was first introduced in Batman: The Animated Series and has never been portrayed in a movie. Still, she has become one of the more popular characters from the Batman universe and is frequently the subject of Cosplay events.

We don’t know how Harley Quinn will be portrayed in the new movie and we don’t know how much they’ll explore her backstory, so it’s a little hard to tell if Margot Robbie was a good choice at the moment. We do know that the actress, who was relatively unknown before The Wolf Of Wall Street, could be a household name by the time Suicide Squad hits theaters in 2016.
