LinkedIn Removes LinkedIn Today, Replaces With Pulse Newsreader

LinkedIn

LinkedIn acquired Pulse, a popular newsreading app for $90 million back in April, and has fully integrated it on the web.

The business social network confirmed the news today, and users should being seeing Pulse integration from the homepage.

An update is also rolling out today to the Pulse app on iOS and Android, enabling you to sign-in using your LinkedIn account.

From Ankit Gupta, Pulse co-founder turned LinkedIn product manager:

“In addition to a brand new visual refresh of the Pulse app, now social actions like commenting and liking on Pulse are possible for the first time and will sync with your LinkedIn.com experience. Any channels you follow on LinkedIn will also automatically sync across your Pulse app experience. It also means that the professional news you’ve come to expect and rely on from LinkedIn just got better — infused with added discovery and navigation functionality as well as expanded publisher content.”

According to a spokesperson, Pulse has “hundreds” of content deals with third-party publishers, ensuring a more consistent flow of news.

Last month, LinkedIn posted Q3 earnings well above analyst expectations with revenue of $393 million, and expected Q4 revenue of $415 to $420 million.
