Have you ever wanted to see Reading Rainbow’s Levar Burton curse? The hose of the popular children’s show is known for his family friendly personality so it was a little shocking to hear him read “Go The F*ck to Sleep” during Rooster Teeth’s 24 hour Extra Life stream
Burton stopped by the live stream to help Rooster Teeth raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The event raised more than $240,000 so I guess we can forgive Burton for shattering his wholesome image.
Burton reads: “The cats nestle close to their kittens, the lambs lay down with the sheep. Your cozy and warm in your bed my dear. Please, go the f*ck to sleep.”
Levar Burton isn’t the first famous person to lend his voice to the popular children’s book. Kotaku reports that the audiobook version of “Go The F*ck To Sleep” was voiced by Samuel L. Jackson.
Jackson’s version is great but nothing beats a bedtime story by Levar Burton. His voice is so smooth and familiar. Burton has been reading kid’s books since 1983 and is basically the reigning champion of bedtime tales.
Reading Rainbow went off the air in 2006 but has since been revived thanks to an enormously successful Kickstarter campaign. Levar Burton raised more than $5 million to bring Reading Rainbow back to a new generation of children.
