Lady Gaga and Russia aren’t on the friendliest terms at the moment.
Vitaly Milonov, the politician who authored Saint Petersburg’s anti-gay law, is trying to charge Gaga with “promoting sodomy, lesbianism, bisexuality and transgenderism among minors.” Lady Gaga has always been an outspoken advocate for gay rights but Milonov believes that she crossed the line at a concert in Russia last year.
At the time, Gaga said: “Where’s all my gay kids tonight? Tonight this is my house, Russia. You can be gay in my house.”
Now Russia is threatening to charge Lady Gaga for promoting homosexuality.
It doesn’t look like the singer is too afraid of the Kremlin because she released a few defiant statements on Twitter today.
Sending bravery to LGBTs in Russia. The rise in government abuse is archaic. Hosing teenagers with pepper spray? Beatings? Mother Russia?

The Russian government is criminal. Oppression will be met with revolution. Russian LGBTs you are not alone. We will fight for your freedom.

Why didn’t you arrest me when you had the chance, Russia? Because you didn’t want answer to the world?

The Kremlin believes that Lady Gaga performed in Russia under the wrong Visa and shouldn’t have been paid for her performance. The singer reportedly received a little over $1 million for her show in St. Petersburg.
