UCONN alum Kemba Walker used Instagram to cash in on a bet with teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist after the national championship game.
When you can force a buddy to wear enemy colors it’s one of the best feelings in the world.
Walker, who won a collegiate championship with the UCONN Huskies in 2011, bet his Charlotte Bobcats teammate over last night’s title match between UCONN and Kentucky.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist attended the University of Kentucky and won a national title as a freshman in 2012.
After Charlotte’s practice on Monday both players predicted victory for their side. Kemba Walker predicted a 20 point win for the Huskies and coach Kevin Ollie, while MKD was less optimistic, predicating an 8-10 point win for the Wildcats and coach John Calipari.
Kemba Walker proved to be prophetic as UCONN defeated Kentucky 60-54 led by their backcourt of Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright. The dynamic pair of guards combined for 36 points in the victory.
Kemba Walker was a good sport thanking his teammate for following through with his end of the bet.
Kidd-Gilchrist was pulling for a Kentucky team which started 5 freshman, ultimately falling short in the final game of the year. MKG faced the indignity of being photographed in a #15 UCONN Huskies shirt, the same uniform number Kemba Walker used to wear in his college glory days.
