Keanu Reeves Heading To Television For New Show

Keanu Reeves is heading to television.

Slingshot Global Media announced this week that it is working with the Matrix star on a new series based on the Rain novels by Barry Eisler. Keanu Reeves will both star and produce the new series. It is his first foray into the world of television.

Reeves said: “As a huge fan of Barry’s work, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring his iconic character and incredible world to life. I’m looking forward to partnering with Slingshot on my first series.”

Keanu Reeves hasn’t had a big hit movie for a few years. Films like Ronin 47 and The Man Of Tai Chi failed to meet expectations at the box office. Reeves has a few films in the works at the moment but it looks like he’s taking a different approach to revitalize his career.

Of course, Rain is a bit of a risk. Eisler’s novels are extremely popular but Slingshot Global Media is a brand new company. According to Deadline, David Ellender started Slingshot back in February after leaving FremantleMedia. The new Rain series will be the company’s flagship show.

Ellender said: “We are extremely excited to be working on a beloved property with such a talented and hard-working actor as Keanu. This series will be the launch pad for the company and highlight our talent-focused, quality-based approach within the ever-changing and expanding television space.”

Do you think Rain will be any good? Keanu Reeves needs a little career boost and this show could be the right vehicle to put him back into the spotlight. Movie stars like Kevin Spacey and Matthew Mcconaughey have had major success with television shows like House Of Cards and True Detective. Do you think Rain will be TV’s next big hit?
