Taylor Swift probably won’t be starring in the upcoming biopic about Joni Mitchell.
Swift was in the running for the role back in 2012. At the time, the country singer said that she was eager to play Joni Mitchell.
Swift said: “I wish I could say it’s confirmed! But the thing about movies that I’ve learned is – I’ve been reading scripts for five years, and you just don’t know what ones are going to get greenlit and which ones aren’t, so I can’t talk about it unless it’s the real thing.”
Joni Mitchell may have been the reason why Swift was nixed.
Mitchell said: “I squelched that … I said to the producer, ‘All you’ve got is a girl with high cheekbones.’ It’s just a lot of gossip, you don’t have the great scenes.”
Casting Taylor Swift wasn’t the only problem that Mitchell had with the film. The singer also said that the source material, Sheila Weller’s book “Girls Like Us,” was full of a lot of nonsense.
Mitchell said: “There’s a lot of nonsense about me in books. Assumptions, assumptions, assumptions.”
Taylor Swift never got the chance to play Joni MItchell but that didn’t stop her from making the transition to movies. She made her debut in the film Valentine’s Day and recently appeared in The Giver.
