Shortly before Joan Rivers stopped breathing on the operating table, her doctor reportedly took a selfie with iconic comedian.
According to TMZ, the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic’s doctor had just finished a procedure when Joan Rivers’ personal ear, nose and throat doctor started a biopsy. The doctor reportedly paused the procedure in order to take a selfie with the unconscious star.
A short time later, Rivers went into cardiac arrest and never regained consciousness.
The disturbing new reported comes from a staffer at the Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic. According to CNN, the staffer “told investigators that the doctor, who has not been publicly identified, took a selfie photo in the procedure room while Rivers was under anesthesia.”
The clinic has not commented on the selfie but they did deny that biopsy ever took place.
The Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic may deny any wrongdoing but they have dismissed some staff members since Joan Rivers death.
ABC News reports: “The gastroenterologist who performed the endoscopy on Joan Rivers is no longer performing procedures at the facility where the comedienne and actress went into cardiac arrest … Dr. Lawrence Cohen, the medical director of the facility, was asked to leave Yorkville Endoscopy and has since stepped down.”
