The Jacksonville International Airport was evacuated on Tuesday after several suspicious packages led to increased “police activity.”
Immediately following the evacuation the following tweet was delivered:
Due to police activity regarding suspicious pkgs., JAX airport has been evacuated. Please check with airline for flight updates.

According to Jacksonville Airport Authority spokesman Michael Stewart, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was called to the airport to investigate the packages.
By 8:10pm ET a full “ground-stop” was ordered for the airport. Outbound flights are suspended and passengers were told to consult with their airlines to find out about alternative arrangements.
Following its first tweet JAX officials continued to push out information via Twitter:
Passengers on in-bound flights currently on the ground will be bused to off-site hotels as transportation becomes available.

Some inbound passengers transported to two hotels: Hilton Garden Inn (904) 421-2700 or Crowne Plaza (904) 741-4404.
