iBooks Added To Flipboard’s Virtual Magazine Stand

Flipboard Introduces iBook For iOS Devices

Flipboard has expanded its catalog of media offerings from news, magazine, audio, and video content to include Apple’s 1.5 million iBooks.

The app, which is already considered the “social magazine” for iOS devices, has added the books section, which includes a mass of genres from fiction and biographies to travelers guides.

The new offering is thanks to an iBookstore Affiliate Program, which will allow the social magazine app to receive a cut from every sale through the program, opening up a second avenue for revenue aside from the ads it already posts.

Flipboard announced the new offering on their blog, writing:

“The books sections’ clean, white pages offer a well-lighted space in which to decide what to read next. In addition to a write-up of the book from the publisher and an image of the book, each “article” also contains a quick way to download the book from the iBookstore.”

The app’s new iBook offering will be available to iOS devices in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, and Brazil. Flipboard added, “Tap the red ribbon and scroll down to the country selector in “This Week” to explore popular books in any of these countries.”

While the new addition of iBooks to the Flipboard app will be available for iOS users, it (understandably) doesn’t sound like it will be available for Android users.
