Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez died today at the age of 58, leaving behind a term he began just shy of two months ago and an uncertain future for his nation.
The death of Hugo Chavez came as no surprise worldwide, as the leader had been fighting a battle with cancer for some time. And Chavez’s passing was also expected imminently, as advisors to the Venezuelan president indicated in recent days that the famed coup leader had taken a decidedly poor turn as of late.
If Chavez’s life and leadership proved controversial, so too was the reaction to his death at 58. Users on Twitter provided an interesting barometer as to public sentiment over Chavez’s passing, in what was certainly a mixed set of opinions worldwide.
