Google+ Updates Profile Pages, Adds Local Reviews

Google Plus Profile Pages - Display

Google has made some major changes to its Google+ profile pages. The company collected user feedback to determine what social network users wanted from the social platform.

The new Google+ profile pages now include a tab for local reviews, access to easier profile page editing and larger cover photos.

On the cover photo side photos are now displayed at a 16:9 ratio with a maximum output of 2120×1192 pixels of resolution. According to Google+ product manager Sara McKinley, the new cover photos give “more room for your selection to shine.”

On the tabs side McKinley explains that the About tab uses separate cards, such as Story, Places, and Links, with each having their own edit link.

The Local tab then provides users with the ability to review local businesses and other venues.

Google will roll out the new updates to users gradually over the new few weeks.

Google has been on a tear lately, in late 2012 it massively updated Google+ Hangouts On-Air and in December it added 18 new features to the social network including Google Android and Apple iOS updates.

What do you think of the new Google+ profile page updates?
