Today’s perhaps unsurprising news that George Zimmerman had been arrested and charged again with a felony just months after a high profile trial in the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin was a big topic of discussion on the social web, and Twitter reacted to the update in the sad-but-true progression he’s making toward becoming the real life version of “Florida man.”
The news of George Zimmerman’s arrest today was not received with surprise, but rather a sobered acceptance of the situation at hand. Reactions ranged from dark joke cracking to annoyance, and the defenses of Zimmerman made so vociferously on social sites seemed hollow and colder as the sad story was again shared and shared some more.
There were frustrated gun control advocates:
Re George Zimmerman’s ‘right’ to own guns..what about the ‘right’ of everyone he meets not to be shot or threatened by him? Utter insanity.
