The Gamestop employee that appeared in the now-infamous GTA 5 “nerd rage” viral video was reportedly fired by the company for her behavior.
For those who haven’t watched the video in question, here’s what happened: One irritable Gamestop customer was had a bit of trouble acquiring his copy of Grand Theft Auto 5, a situation that turned ugly when the woman behind the counter decided to have some fun at his expense.
The employee in the video threatened to share the guy’s personal information with the world so everyone who watched the clip could pick on him. Not surprisingly, the man wasn’t happy about the threat. The situation quickly escalates from that point forward.
Shortly after California resident Curtis Lepore uploaded the video and shared it on Twitter, the folks at Gamestop got wind of the situation. Since the company doesn’t want to look bad in any way, shape, or form, the corporate office decided to investigate the situation.

Here’s the company’s official statement on the matter:
We are aware of this incident and are currently investigating the situation. We regret that this happened, as we strive to ensure all customers receive a great experience when visiting our stores. We would like to extend an apology to the affected customer as well as any other customer that was offended by this event.
Although the Gamestop employee’s fate is reportedly under investigation, one YouTube commenter said that the manager was recently sacked for her behavior.
I work for GS in the LA area. I am happy to report to all of you that this b**** has been fired as of today. She was a c*** to work for, and trust me when I say that we are all happy that she is gone. Also, she has done worse than just this. Just last year she was under investigation for fudging the numbers in her books because money and games were coming up missing. She talked her way out of it and pegged it on an innocent girl who just killed herself this past May.

No gamer wants to be trolled while trying to game – hopefully they fired that inconsiderate employee and hired someone who knows how to sell games to gamers. (pro tip: not that hard of a job to do)

He should be happy that she was looking out for HIM. If he had simply said, 'ok, here's my I.D., yes I am indeed the person who put in that pre-order', this never would have happened.
Ummm, at what point did she offer out his business card? A male voice, clearly, says "and now we have his business card". To which she replied "yea, so you can email him…". And in what reality is it ok to to use your business card as id, why would you even try that if you had a valid license on you. Morten Imingen True, but it's sad that's how it should be. From being in retail for 10+ years, it's just so annoying that we haven't FIXED this shit. So they can be pricks, but we can't stand up for ourselves.

He's a customer. He isn't representing a company, or anything but himself. She is held to a higher standard as an employee there. He can't be fired – she can.

They are paid to put to put up with junk like this all the time. Customer service sucks and dealing with jerks like that can be super hard to ignore and swallow. Legally, she is not allowed to give him a game regardless of how old he looks. In fact, an employee can loose their job in some cases, if the customer doesn't produce an ID. Her sarcastic tone was fine, and honestly I would have been rooting for her up until the point where she offered out his information. That crossed a line, but you can't hate on someone like her for being in customer service. It's unfortunately the most common job type on the planet.

Whatever or whomever might have instigated anything, she behaved very inappropriately. Attempting to humiliate him and get the customers involved? How is that in any way professional? Aside from her being fired, that guy could easily have a lawsuit against GS for the humiliation.
If a video of me being humiliated by a cashier went viral, someone is getting sued.
