Former Pinterest Employee Cynthia Maxwell Hired By Yahoo

Cynthia Maxwell Hired At Yahoo

Cynthia Maxwell, the software engineer who helped build Pinterest’s awesome iPhone/iPad, and Android apps, has joined the team at Yahoo’s mobile group.

According to Business Insider Maxwell was the 10th employee to join Pinterest and before her time with the social network she worked as an iOS engineer at Apple, Inc.

Business Insider named Maxwell as one of its 25 Powerful Women Engineers to watch in 2012.

Maxwell departed from her position at Pinterest in September and is now serving as the senior director of engineering for Yahoo!’s Mobile and Emerging Products Team

Yahoo is building quite the mobile infrastructure team with former IntoNow CEO Adam Cahan heading up the division after his company was acquired for $20 million in 2011.

Other members to recently join the mobile team include:

  • John Thrall, VP of mobile engineering, who moved to mobile in January after six years in the “Media products” group;
  • Benoit Schillings, a Yahoo technical fellow, who previously worked on Facebook’s Android app and at Nokia before that;
  • Stephane Karoubi, director of mobile engineering who came from Microsoft’s MSN and before that, lead the team that created Microsoft’s first, short-lived phone, the KIN.
