In its ever increasing attempting to dominate the worldwide market for social networks, Facebook on Monday announced free or cheap data use for its Facebook Messenger apps.
The world’s largest social network has formed partnerships with 18 carriers in 14 countries. The partnerships are meant to help Facebook grab a footing in regions where it has struggled to gain mass appeal.
Several of the top regions to receive cheap or free mobile data with Facebook messenger apps are Brazil, Egypt, India, Ireland, Italy, the Philippines, Portugal, and Thailand.
Facebook plans to offer the free or cheap data options for at least three months (carrier dependent).
The best part? Users don’t even need a Facebook account since the Facebook Messenger app only requires a phone number. Although, Facebook account holders can more easily find friends to message.
The mobile data promotion includes iOS, Android, m.facebook.com access, and Facebook for Every Phone.
Do you think Facebook Messenger with free or cheap mobile data can help Facebook attract new users who have shied away from the system.
