What do you do when Facebook goes down? You could read a book. You could talk to a friend in person. You could go outside… Or you could call 911 and beg police to do something about your social media emergency.
The social networking site went down for some users for a few hours on Friday. For some, that classified as an emergency.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reportedly received a few 911 calls after Facebook went down.
#Facebook is not a Law Enforcement issue, please don’t call us about it being down, we don’t know when FB will be back up!

That’s pretty ridiculous, right? Well, it might also be an exaggeration. Capt. Britta Steinbrenner of the LA County Sheriff’s Information Bureau said that she was not aware of any 911 calls. The department is investigating to see if Sgt. Brink really did receive emergency calls from panicky Facebook users.
Millions of people use Facebook every day and it’s kind of a big deal when something goes wrong with the system. But an emergency? Let’s hope that the LA County Sheriff’s Department never receives a call about a Facebook outage again.
