Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson was officially dumped yesterday following a newspaper report exposing his alleged ties to gang activity, however if fans have their way, Jackson may resume his career at Oakland.
As reported here on Social News Daily on May 18, speculation was rife that the Eagles were looking to dump Jackson resulting from his asking price of $10.25 million for 2014.
The report from NJ.com that suggested that Jackson has alleged connections with gang members in Los Angeles who are also suspected to be connected to two homicides cemented the teams decision; although not officially saying so it’s believed the Eagles had become more concerned with Jackson’s off-field relationships and behavior than with his on-field performance.
The Oakland Raiders aren’t the only team reported to be interested in signing Jackson, however if vocal fans have their way Jackson will be headed to the East San Francisco Bay based team well and truly before the kickoff of this years NFL season on September 4th.
As of the morning of March 29, #DJaxToOakland has trended on Twitter since last night, and as news of Jackson being on the market spreads it’s bound to gather momentum as more Raiders fans join in the viral push.
Jackson had 1,332 yards receiving in 2013 with 9 touchdown receptions playing for his now former team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
