Social videos make us smile, laugh, cry, and even look at our screens in amazement. The video posted for 3-year-old Grayson Champ fit us into all of those categories.
Little Grayson was born without cochlear nerves which are needed to process and hear sound. The little boy had never heard the voice of his mom or dad until doctors agreed to operate.
Grayson had actually undergone cochlear implants but the procedure didn’t work so his parent Len and Nicole sought out new procedures which is when they learned about a children’s research trial at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, N.C.,
Grayson Champ became the first child in the United States to receive an “auditory brain implant,” which places a microchip in the brain to help process the sounds that travel from tubes into the ear.
As the device was activated the first words Grayson Champ heard was, “Daddy loves you.”

The video has already racked up more than 21,000 views and thanks to Facebook and Twitter shares it is likely to go further viral in the days and weeks to come.
