Illinois news anchor Dave Benton told viewers today that he only has a few months to live.
The WCIA TV news anchor broke the news during this morning’s broadcast. Benton said that his brain cancer is back and that the tumor is too big for radiation.
Despite the diagnosis, Dave Benton said that he was at peace.
Benton said: “The goal here is to have a few more days and to make them the best that they can be in the life that I have … I believe that I’m in God’s hands, I’m at peace and I know he will take care of the days ahead.”
Benton said that he was going to do antibody treatment and some chemo in an attempt to slow the tumor’s growth. He also said that he plans on working for as long as he’s able.
Benton added: “I’ve decided to do an antibody treatment and some chemo to try to slow its growth. That’s my best option. That being said, doctors say I have anywhere from four-to-six months before things turn bad. I’m dedicated to keep working. I’ll be here bringing you the news as long as I am able. I’m grateful for the outpouring of support, prayers and cards. It’s meant the world to me. It’s changed my life.”
